On August 6th 2007, ChaneyBrooks hosted a Guam Investment Conference at The private Pacific Club in Honolulu. The keynote speaker was Lt. Governor Michael Cruz. Guest Speakers included Guam Economic Development Commerce Authority Administrator, Senator Anthony Blaz and Watts Construction President, Denny Watts.
The conference began with Senator. Blaz, who provided insight into Guam’s present and projected economic situation. Senator Blaz discussed a wide range of topics such as Guam’s current real estate market, upcoming developments, and incentive-based programs offered by the Government of Guam aimed at attracting both Hawaii and Mainland businesses to Guam.
Next, Denny Watts highlighted Watts Constructors’ commitment to the island of Guam and shed some light on ways that both Hawaii and Mainland businesses would be able to maximize both productivity and profitability while doing business on the island. Mr. Watts presented some of his current and past projects on Guam and remarked that he fully enjoyed working with the people of Guam and was excited about the island’s future.
The key note presentation was delivered by Lt. Governor Michael Cruz. The Lt. Governor spoke of the island’s expected boom, which will be fueled primarily by the movement of US Military forces from Okinawa to Guam and the need for infrastructural improvements such as roads, power plants, water and sewer systems. The massive transfer of military forces was expected to grow the population of Guam by as much as 25%. This growth, according to the Lt. Governor, presented challenges to all facets of Guam’s infrastructure and resources, which in turn will lead to a myriad of opportunities for enterprising businesses. The Guam Investment Conference was co-sponsored by Matson Navigation, First Hawaiian Bank, Durrant Media Five, PacRim Marketing Group and hosted by ChaneyBrooks. |
